What is
Sahabat KHARIS?
"We are dedicated to helping the KHARIS Community, whenever and wherever needed."
We are a youth-led volunteer group for the KHARIS Community. We were founded by Karyna in April 2024, and we have been serving KHARIS members since then. We are motivated to help KHARIS in anything, becoming dedicated volunteers that KHARIS can rely on.
What We Do
Accompany KHARIS
Sahabat KHARIS is here to walk alongside, not just observe from a distance. We believe that everyone deserves a friend who listens, understands, and stays present in life’s journey. With empathy at the core, we strive to be a faithful companion in your day-to-day life and events. The community needs a sighted guide for a congress? Or maybe a movie interpreter for the blind? We got it.
Planning
We do more than accompany — we help design meaningful steps forward. Together, we create plans that are tailored to the needs of the KHARIS community we serve. With thoughtful planning, every effort becomes more focused and impactful, fostering growth and independence. The community wants; we're the ones who make it happen.
Support System
Sahabat KHARIS is a dependable support system, unable to be separated from KHARIS. We build networks of encouragement and offer solutions when challenges arise. We stand by as encouragers, helpers, and problem-solvers, creating an environment where everyone can thrive. With kindness and teamwork, we build a space where challenges are shared, victories are celebrated, and hope is always alive.

Sahabat KHARIS members served as volunteers that initiated, planned, and executed the entire thing: from inviting the Cardinal to D-Day.

Parishioners that did not know KHARIS existed, now knows of the importance of a community for disabled people.

Policies changed. Disabled mass now regularly held bimonthly with parishioners outside the community willing to help anytime, and KHARIS considered an official community within the church.
One Honorary Member
The Cardinal Archbishop of Jakarta, Ignatius Cardinal Suharyo, agreed to become an honorary member of Sahabat KHARIS.
Our Logo
Motto: Spes Per Actus Humanitatis et Benevolentiae in Christo (Abbreviated as SAHABAT or "Best Friend" in English). Translated from Latin to "Hope through actions of humanity and benevolence in Christ."
Symbols and colors:
- Green symbolizes habit. It means that what we do is not something that we do for fame, praise, nor pride; rather, green symbolizes that our motto should be normalized.
- Red symbolizes bravery, love, and generosity. Sahabat KHARIS volunteers must have these three aspects in their works. The Crucifix in the T symbolizes Christ, that is always present in and through our work.
- Pink symbolizes joy. With the white pigeon symbolizing The Holy Spirit, the pink branch it is carrying symbolizes the joy that God brings through His grace.
- Yellow symbolizes The Light of God. He shines His bright light upon KHARIS Community members.

Part of the St. Monica BSD parish and Catholic Youth (13 - 35 years old). If you are not from St. Monica BSD, we also provide help to build your own youth-led volunteer group for the disabled community in your church.
Volunteering is not full of expectations. Rather, your actions come from the heart. If you are unable to join activities for a certain period or have personal struggles, it is not a problem. Just be communicative of your circumstances so that our team may accommodate and help you!
Before joining, you must contact Karyna to do one activity with KHARIS and Sahabat KHARIS. This is to make sure you like and enjoy doing our activities as part of a group, ultimately contributing towards the community as a whole.
